2017- A Year in Review

By Chelsi Slotten

WOW, we can’t believe it’s been another year, and an amazing one for the Women in Archaeology Podcast too!!!  We released 25 episodes in 2017 and saw our listenership grow to over 6,000 subscribers per episode.  None of this would be possible without you, our fantastic listeners so- THANK YOU!!

Some highlights from the year include multilingual conversations about our podcast on Twitter- thanks for helping us exercise our French and Spanish skills, some amazing emails from you about topics you want to have covered in the future and ways to improve the show, and gaining our 500th follower on Twitter yesterday.  What an amazing way to end the year! We’re not even 2 years old and we’re really feeling the love.  We’ve also added some amazing guests to our lineup who have really brought the show to a whole new level- shutouts to Jessica, Lindsay, Cheryl, Sally, Laura, Colleen, Donna, Linda, Nicole and the guests who’ve been with us from the beginning- the show would not be possible without you. Between Kirsten, Emily, Serra and myself we’ve been represented at nine conferences in four countries, talking about both the podcast and our other archaeology research interests.

We’re really looking forward to what the new year will bring.  We’ve lined up some incredible topics  including an interview with Dr. Donna Yates on trafficking archaeological materials and we’re working on organizing some crossover episodes with other archaeology podcasts.  We can’t wait to see what 2018 brings to our podcast and wish you the best in the new year!
